Elon Musk is once again ahead of his time, proving he is not just an entrepreneur, but a global change-maker. His recently launched DOGE program is creating ripples in the job market and redefining the way governments and companies operate. The program, which integrates advanced automation, artificial intelligence and radical efficiency, brings forth a reality where moves that once took decades now happen in mere months.
However, with all the innovation and promise of progress, comes a heavy price: massive layoffs. Musk's efficiency push not only leaves thousands of workers unemployed but also raises pressing questions about the social responsibility of such actions. Could such a process happen in Israel? Are we ready to embrace a mindset where efficiency is not a dirty word, but an engine for improvement and upgrade?

Israel declares itself a technological powerhouse, but in practice its public service system is outdated, cumbersome and often stuck in the past. Bureaucratic processes take months at best, and years at worst.
Meanwhile, the state’s expenses are rising, primarily due to political commitments that prevent true efficiency measures. In a country that is forced to allocate significant budgets for security, recovery and rebuilding civilian infrastructure, a fundamental shift in the approach to managing public resources is required.
Musk, on the other hand, shows that things can be done differently. The model he applies emphasizes quick decision-making, the implementation of advanced technologies, and reducing dependence on traditional manpower. He is unafraid of bold moves, even at the cost of market disruptions. But rather than viewing this as a threat, Israel could turn this trend into an opportunity.

If the country embraces advanced models of Reskilling and Upskilling, it will be able to offer workers solutions that will allow them to re-enter the economy – this time, with skills relevant to the new world. There’s no escaping the need for efficiency – the question is whether we’ll carry it out in a time of crisis and desperation, or with a vision and strategy for the long term.

Imagine an Israel where government offices operate digitally, swiftly and efficiently, with a small yet skilled workforce delivering services to citizens at the level of a leading startup. Imagine a public system that knows how to leverage artificial intelligence to manage tasks, reduce wait times and lower operational costs. It’s possible – but only if we choose to make it happen.
The big question is whether Israel has the courage to make a real change. Musk has already proven that it’s possible – the clock is ticking, and it’s time for Israel to start moving.
