Israeli security forces arrested the head of a terror cell operating out of the Balata refugee camp in the eastern part of Nablus, officials said Thursday.
According to a joint statement by the Israel Police, the Shin Bet security agency, and the Israel Defense Forces, undercover Border Police officers from the Judea and Samaria unit, along with IDF soldiers, located and apprehended the wanted man following intelligence provided by the Shin Bet.
The arrest was made after an exchange of fire at the site where the suspect had been hiding. A second individual was also detained during the operation. Violent riots broke out during the raid, endangering the forces, who responded with live fire to remove the threat, the statement said. No Israeli personnel were injured.
