Former Israeli Navy Commander Eliezer (Chayni) Marom addressed the “Qatar-Gate” affair during a cultural event in Beersheba, calling it “perhaps one of the most serious cases in Israel's history.”
“Qatar is an extremist state connected to Hamas and Iran. They have a method—placing their people in various positions and taking over top-level and classified posts around the world,” Marom said. “Qatar is a jihadist country. While it’s not officially designated as an enemy state, as far as I’m concerned, it is. Let that be clear.”
He continued, “What’s happening is that the prime minister’s advisers are in the inner sanctum while simultaneously advising both Qatar and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. I’m not saying he knew about it—I don’t know.”
