The Brazilian foreign ministry has ousted the country's ambassador to Israel, General Gerson Menandro Garcia De Freitas, who was a Bolsonaro political appointment from 2021. While General Menandro was considered to be sympathetic to the Israeli cause with regards to the Palestinian issue, the new left-wing De Silva administration aims to side with the Palestinians on major issues, as confirmed by Brazil's new foreign minister, Mauro Vieira.
