A group of Israelis who had served in the IDF reserves and fought in Gaza were under threat from pro-Palestinian protesters who surrounded the Montreal Holocaust Museum, where they were schedule to speak in a pro-Israel event. The four were rescued by the Montreal police only after being under an hours-long siege.

"We were really worried that the demonstrators would break in. We couldn't go outside, and we were able to finally leave only after hours once the police rescued us," Uri Yitzhaki, one of the four reserve soldiers said. "It's hard to believe that such a thing could happen in a country like Canada in 2024," he said.

In videos from the incident, pro-Palestinian protestors are seen raising the Nazi salute and shouting "Nazis," "Go back to Auschwitz," and "Zionist fascists." The videos captured from the protest, people are heard shouting: "We're going to kill all your children."

The event was eventually canceled due to the threats made by protestors and other security concerns. The DiploAct organization, which invited the Israelis said that the cancellation was "a surrender to the antisemitic BDS movement in the heart of Montreal."
