Since the Hamas massacre on October 7 and the outbreak of war in Gaza, the Jewish Federations of North America have raised over $833 million, accounting for more than half of the total funds donated by the global Jewish community. Of these funds, $433 million have been allocated to approximately 520 associations in Israel.
A new report by the organization, which tracked funds raised and distributed until the beginning of June, highlights the significant assistance provided, ranging from medical aid and temporary housing to economic recovery, long-term rehabilitation and mental health support.
Jewish federations throughout the United States quickly mobilized to meet the needs of the displaced, the injured and IDF soldiers. The campaign also supported over 480 businesses with emergency loans, provided mental health support to 407,000 Israelis and served 1.2 million hot meals.
The community's philanthropy helped find alternative housing for nearly 37,000 displaced Israelis, supplied equipment to 27 hospitals and backed emergency loans for hundreds of businesses through five loan platforms. Donations came from 146 Jewish federations and over 150,000 donors.
The aid included $77 million for victims of terrorism and shelters, $57 million to associations caring for affected communities, $13 million for agricultural support (REGROW), $16 million for emergency medical care—including $7 million to Magen David Adom—and $14 million for mental health care.
The federations' allocations provided essential relief, emergency medical services, financial support, and other critical assistance. Their strong core partnerships and decades of experience enabled them to swiftly launch two historic campaigns: the first, an emergency campaign for Israel, aimed at raising significant resources for immediate and long-term assistance, and the second, the largest community mobilization in the history of the federation system to support Israel in the U.S.
"Since the terrible Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, the Jewish communities of North America have mobilized in an unprecedented way to help our people in Israel in their difficult time," said Eric Fingerhut, president and CEO of the Jewish Federations.
"I thank the donors as well as our professionals and our partners in Israel for the quick and considerate distribution of these funds. We will continue to stand by the State of Israel and help the victims and the evacuated communities."
