The screening, which took place on Monday night, was organized by the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Hundreds of anti-Israel protesters demonstrated against the event and even burst into the theater lobby, shouting "shame on you" at anyone who came to watch the screening.
The victim, who requested to remain anonymous for his safety, entered the building holding a small Israeli flag. One of the protesters tried to snatch the Israeli flag from his hand, and then the man was attacked violently. "I did not say anything to anyone, as we walked up I did not look at anyone, I did not give anyone the finger, I simply walked up holding an Israeli flag," the man said.
"A group of them was swinging me around and threw me into a parked car," the victim said. "I was completely surrounded by maybe six or seven that started punching me in the head."
The victim expressed his concern for Jewish people in Chicago. "I think it is disgusting you cannot walk down the street Jewish in 2024," he said. The man also said that the pro-Palestinian protesters should have watched the film and seen the horrors for themselves from October 7.
