US raises Lebanon travel advisory to highest level amid rising tensions

The U.S. on Wednesday elevated its travel advisory for Lebanon to Level 4, the highest level, due to escalating tensions between Hezbollah and Israel.
"Do not travel to Lebanon due to rising tensions," the State Department's website read. "If you are in Lebanon, be prepared to shelter in place if the situation escalates. The U.S. Embassy strongly recommends that U.S. citizens in southern Lebanon, near the Syrian border, or in refugee camp areas, leave immediately."
Previously, the highest travel advisory was only for southern Lebanon, but it has now been updated to include the entire country.
