The Israeli Armament Development Authority Rafael signed a contract with the United States Navy to supply then with 67 Typhoon-type naval weapon stations. The deal, a joint enterprise between Rafael and the American company EBA, is set to yield Rafael USD 28 million.
The light and remote controlled Typhoon-type naval weapon station is designated for medium diameter canons installed on navy ships. The system is also designed to handle terror threats from sea.
According to Rafael officials, the US navy decided to purchase the Typhoon system after testing many other systems on the market that did not meet their operational standards.
"We see this contract as an additional recognition of the top abilities and performance of the system, which is already in use in many other countries and which proved to be the most advanced of its kind in the world," a Rafael official added.
