Following intelligence received by the defense establishment regarding a plan to launch an attack from Samaria to the center of Israel, large forces deployed in the West bank and roadblocks were positioned on highways. In addition, suspicious vehicles were delayed for inspection.
The police have also deployed in large numbers across the area, and high alert level was announced in the Sharon region.
The high state of alert was canceled at about 10 a.m. Other details pertaining to the incident were banned for publication.
The defense establishment currently holds 19 specific terror alerts regarding plans to carry out terror attacks, most of the alerts relate to the Islamic Jihad and the northern Samaria area.
Fatah opertaive killed in Jericho
Meanwhile, a special IDF unit and Haredi infantry forces foiled another terror attack from Jericho. During the operation, a wanted Fatah operative was killed.
As a result of intelligence information about the operative, Mahmoud Jaberi from the Fatah, the special unit and infantry forces surrounded his house in the Ein Sultan refugee camp in Jericho and demanded that he come out and surrender. The terrorist tried to escape, after which the Israeli forces shot at him and killed him. A search of his house uncovered a bag containing explosives.
Jaberi was responsible for the terror attack in 2000 in which taxi driver Simcha Ron was killed.
Additionally, IDF forces arrested ten wanted Palestinians in Judea and Samaria. Four operatives, members of Hamas, were arrested in Qalqilya. Five Hamas operatives were arrested in Ramallah and one Fatah operative was arrested in Bethlehem.
