The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's military wing, claimed Wednesday it had fired a rocket at the West Bank settlement of Elei Zahav.
The group said the rocket, a homemade Qassam, is the third to be fired towards Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
West Bank Rockets
After attempting to fire rocket from West Bank town of Tul Karm, Palestinians claim they launched rocket from Jenin into Israel. Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades: 'All Israeli cities within our rockets' range'
The official said the rocket has a firing range of five kilometers. Last week the group claimed it fired two rockets from Tulkarem and Jenin toward Israel.
Abu Udai, a senior al-Aqsa official, said the rocket was fired in response to Israel's ongoing military operation in the Gaza Strip.
'New balance of terror'
The group is prepared "to continue its rocket attacks against settlements in the West Bank and neighboring towns."
Abu Udai added that his group is seeking to intensify rocket attack from the West Bank in an attempt to create a "new balance of terror."
"Soon, all Israeli towns will be with the range of rockets fired by Palestinian resistance groups," he said.
The IDF has neither confirmed nor denied Al-Aqsa claims that rockets had been fired from the West Bank towards Israel.
Abu Udai said his group is seeking to improve the firing range and precision of its homemade rockets.
