The man, Ahmed Sanakra is wanted by security forces for planning terror attacks in Israel and planting explosive devices in the West Bank.
After learning of Sanakra's injury, the gunmen evacuated him for medical treatment.
On Monday night, Palestinian activated an explosive device near a paratroopers force operating in Jenin and opened fire at the soldiers. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
The Nablus area saw a number of additional incidents Monday night. Palestinians opened fire at Israel Defense Forces soldiers operating in the city, and a Molotov cocktail was hurled at an Israeli vehicle east of Nablus. The car was slightly damaged, but there were no injuries in both incidents.
Center for terror organizations
Nablus continues to serve as a center for terror groups, and the IDF continues to focus its efforts on the West Bank city even after the completion of the operation launched there at the beginning of March.
Most of the activity is based on intelligence information aimed at arresting wanted Palestinians engaged in attempts to carry out terror attacks.
IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi instructed the Central Command to maintain the army's freedom of operation in the West Bank and to operate as fast as possible upon receiving intelligence information.
Last week, two operatives from the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades – Fatah's military wing - were killed in exchanges of fire with IDF soldiers in Nablus. The IDF confirmed that their forces shot at gunmen in the city, resulting in at least one definite hit.
The Palestinians identified the two fatalities as Mohaned Maraish and Alleh al-Raliz. The two were exchanging fire with IDF infantry forces operating in the old city, the sources said.
The IDF reported that the two were Tanzim members who were operated by Hizbullah and received financial aid from the Lebanese group. They were responsible for shooting attacks and for hurling explosive devices at Israeli forces in the area.
