3 falcons freed in solidarity with kidnapped troops

Ehud Goldwasser's childhood friends release birds of prey which were injured and treated at Ramat Gan's safari. 'The falcons' release symbolizes the yearning for the quick release of our three sons,' Goldwasser's father says

"Udi, Eldad and Gilad, return to us quickly!" the families of the kidnapped IDF soldiers called out Friday at Ramat Gan's safari while freeing three birds of prey.

"The falcons' release symbolizes the yearning for our three sons to also be released soon," said Ehud Goldwasser's father Shlomo.

"The falcons were jailed inside the cages and they returned to their homes, returned to freedom. This is what we want for our sons as well – a release from jail and a return home to freedom, to the arms of their families," he added.

The falcons were treated after suffering from very long injuries at the safari hospital for wild animals, and have recently recovered and were found to be fit to return to nature.

Ehud Goldwasser's mother Miki was extremely moved by the initiative, organized by her son's childhood friends, saying that this was a call on the State and the government to return the sons immediately.

"We are receiving endless warmth and love from the people. The evidence is the amount of people who came here," she said.

A little girl approached Miki Goldwasser and asked her how she felt as the mother of a kidnapped soldier.

"It's the worst feeling in the world, particularly when I'm unaware of his condition. But they will return and we will be able to hug them again and love them. Say you believe they will return, because God listens to little children," she replied.

Maya Shlezinger, Ehud's childhood fried, also spoke of her feeling.

"They took our friends away. Something is missing in our life and it is no longer the same. Although we are not a family, as those who grew up with them since childhood we miss them immensely and want them to return and become a part of our life again," she said.

Miki Goldwasser addressed the Winograd Commission's interim report, saying that at the moment it was none of her business.

"We are not dealing with the Winograd report issue. We have so many difficult missions to deal with, so at the moment we are not dealing with it. The person who will deal with it will be Udi (Ehud) when he returns."

The mother also referred to the sons' fate, saying that she was certain they were alive for a number of reasons.

"One is that Hizbullah wanted them alive because they know that living soldiers bear a higher price. Second, we are talking about extremely religious people and I would like to believe that they are acting according to the Koran, which orders them to treat hostages just like they treat themselves," she said.
