Palestinian sources report a Palestinian gunman belonging to Hamas was killed and another wounded in exchanges of fire with IDF troops in southern Gaza early Friday morning.
The army confirmed an Israeli force entered the Strip near the Kissufim crossing but said it was still looking into reports of clashes.
Meanwhile in overnight operations in the West Bank the army arrested four wanted Palestinians in the Jenin, Ramallah and Nablus regions. The men were taken for questioning by security forces.
Despite the reduction in rocket fire from Gaza since the IDF launched operation 'Warm Winter,' Qassams and mortar shells continue to land in Israel on a daily basis. On Wednesday the tally of rockets fired reached 17 – a comparatively high figure in recent weeks.
Two of the rockets fired Wednesday landed in the town of Sderot, lightly wounding two people. The military wings of the Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees claimed responsibility for the attacks.
