'Schlep yourselves over to Florida, vote Obama'

WASHINGTON – Emmy-winning American comedian Sarah Silverman has hopped on the Obama train is has recently released an online video explaining to the young Jewish community in the US, who to convince their grandparents – who are living in Florida – to vote for Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

The last two presidential campaigns saw Florida's 27 electoral votes go to the Republican candidate – George Bush. The Jewish community in the States is mostly affiliated with the Democratic Party, but the recent presidential campaign has seen many opt to vote for Rebuplican John McCain, who is a seasoned politician.

"If you knew that visiting your grandparents could change the world would you do it?" asks Silverman. "Of course you would. You'd have to be a douche nozzle not to.

"If Barack Obama doesn’t become the next president of the United States I'm going to blame the Jews. I am. And I knew you're saying, like, oh my God Sarah, I can't believe you're saying this! Jews are the most liberal, scrappy, civil-rightsy people there are, and yes, that's true, but you're forgetting a large group of Jews that are not that way, and they go by several aliases: Nana, papa or just plain old grandma and grandpa. These are the people who vote in Florida, and a Florida vote can make or break an election."

Rock the vote

"If you don't think that's true, why don’t you think back to two elections ago, when a little man named Al Gore, got f*** by Florida," continues Silverman. "I'm making this video to urge you, all of you, to schlep yourselves over to Florida and convince your grandparents to vote Obama – it can make the difference.

"You know why your grandparents don’t like Barack Obama? Because his name sounds scary, it sounds Muslim, which he's obviously not. And yes, Barack Hussien Obama it's a super f*** sh*** name, but you'd think that somebody named Manishevitz Guberman, might understand that.

"The name Barack is a Hebrew word," she explains, "it means 'lightning.' And I would much rather have a president whose names means 'lightning' than a president named John, whose name means 'toilet,'" she says.

Silverman ends her video with two pointed messages: "Obama's foreign policy is much more stabilizing than McCain's and much better for Israel.

"There's nobody more important or influential over your grandparents then their grandkids – you. If they vote for Barack Obama, they're gonna' get another visit this year… so get your fat Jewish asses on a plane to Florida"

Silverman reportedly made the video on behalf of a group called Jews Vote, which has pledges its support to Obama. The latter seems to be struggling with Jewish vote in Florida, as the latest polls show only 60% of the Jewish voters in the southeastern state would consider voting him their president.
