The Tel Aviv District Court convicted Dror Alperon, son of slain crime boss Yaakov Alperon, of extortion on Tuesday.
The State alleged that Alperon blackmailed and threatened a party planner, demanding he give him his earnings. The prosecution entered into evidence tape recordings of conversations between the two, supporting the charges.
Alperon was convicted by his own admission, as part of a plea bargain he struck with the State Prosecutor's Office. A second defendant, a minor who was also implicated in the case, pleaded guilty to intimidation.

"This is the last time any of my children ends up in court," said Alperon's mother, Ahuva, after the verdict was read. "This is all very hard for me, but who can beat the system? Everything (Dror) has been put through is inhuman, not Jewish and undemocratic.
"This was nothing more that a business dispute. There was nothing criminal about it. Everyone who has our name is automatically branded as a criminal."
The prosecution stands to ask Apleron be sent to 10 months in jail. The judge granted the defense's motion to have the Probation Service review the case prior to any decision on jail time.
