Hamas sources told the Reuters news agency that three people had been injured in the strike. Their condition was not reported and it is unclear whether they were involved in fighting in the area.
The attack took place in the Khan Younis area and was carried out in response to the firing of a Qassam rocket at the western Negev on Wednesday morning. The rocket landed in an open area between two communities in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council. The Color Red alert system was activated before the rocket hit the area. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

On Friday evening, residents of the Sdot Negev and Shaar Hanegev regional councils were forced to take cover after the rocket alert system was activated. A Qassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip was said to have exploded in an open area, but its landing spot was not located. There were no injuries or damage.
Friday's rocket was launched several hours after Muhammad Wadi, 18, was killed after IDF soldiers opened fire on a group of youngsters suspected of attempting to plant an explosive device along the security fence separating Israel from Hamas-ruled Gaza.
Hamas claimed that the youths were bird hunting and that the Palestinian who was killed did not belong to any terrorist organization.
Another Qassam rocket was fired at Israel early last week. It exploded in an open area west of Sderot, without causing any injuries or damage. According to IDF officials, 15 rockets and mortar shells have been fired at Israel in the past month.
