Huckabee in Israel: Iran threatens US as well
Former Presidential candidate tells Knesset gathering, 'It is America, not Israel, that Ahmadinejad calls Great Satan'
Governor Mike Huckabee is in Israel this week leading a delegation of 170 American Christians.
Known for his staunch support of the Jewish State, the former Republican Presidential candidate assured critics that his love for Israel was an integral part of his religious beliefs. “Without Judaism there would be no Christianity.
"Your holy sites are our holy sites,” Huckabee said as he addressed a full Knesset auditorium at a gathering hosted by Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Danny Danon (Likud) on Wednesday.
Linking the settlement freeze with the Iranian nuclear threat, the Governor stated, “The world should be more concerned about the possibility of nuclear armed Iran than the building of a Jewish kindergarten in the Jewish homeland.”
Focusing his attention on the Obama administration, Huckabee continued by saying, “The current Iranian regime is as equal a threat to the United States as it is to the Jewish State. It is America, not Israel, that (Iranian President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad calls the Great Satan.”
The former Arkansas governor’s delegation, which has already visited the Western Wall and Yad Vashem, will tour the Galilee and the Golan Heights later in the week.
During his visit, Huckabee has met with prominent Israeli leaders including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon.
