EasyJet will be offering Starbucks coffee in Israel's skies. The budget airline announced on Monday that the company's customers will now be able to purchase coffee from the American brand on all its flights destined for Europe.
This means that, despite the fact that Starbucks is no longer operating in Israel, Israeli customers will still be able to drink its coffee before landing in their destination, as long as they have enough money to pay for it.
A cup of Starbucks coffee will cost €3, compared to €2.5 for other coffee brands served on the company's flights. The announcement came after the company tested the idea on a number of flights to Madrid, Milan and London.
This will make EasyJet the only airline in Europe to offer the coffee brand on its flights, and it is able to do so due to its business model, according to which the company charges additional costs from customers for any food or beverages consumed on its flights.
From now on, two kinds of Starbucks coffee will be served on the flights – Italian roast or Colombian. They will both be offered in two different sizes.
EasyJet will also be offering hot cocoa and four kinds of Tazo teas – English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Refresh and Passion varieties. The hot cocoa will be sold at €3 and the teas will cost €2.5.
Anyone interested in purchasing Starbucks products after the flight will also be able to do so. A package containing five bags of Starbucks coffee blends will cost €10, but it may not be consumed on the flight.
EasyJet operates 500 flight routes at budget prices on 182 airplanes that land in 117 airports around 28 countries. The company also operates a daily London-Tel Aviv flight (except for Fridays).
The flight leaves Luton Airport in London at 11:30 am and lands in Israel at 6:35 pm. The flight from Tel Aviv takes off at 7:25 pm and lands in Luton Airport at 11:05 pm.
