Hundreds of consumers will be getting their sweet fix from a kosher-certified brand in the next holiday season.
Carmit Candy Industries Ltd., a company based in Israel, will be selling chocolate gelt on Christmas day. The company signed a contract to distribute its famous chocolate coins in various Wal-Mart stores in 2010.
Founded in 1973, Carmit Candy is a confectionery company that has exported to the United States, Europe, Australia and Canada. Aside from chocolate gelt, its product list also includes marshmallows, gluten-free wafers, lollipops and toffee candy.
Wal-Mart’s first order of Carmit’s chocolate coins for Christmas 2010 is reportedly worth $500,000. In 2009, Carmit’s sales in the US totaled $8 million.
