Schreiber, last seen in 2010’s "Salt" opposite Angelina Jolie, has had a vast array of cinematic roles, including that of narrator. In fact, Schreiber has made a “king’s ransom” from his mellifluous, satiny voice throughout the past two decades, narrating numerous documentaries and television specials.
"Liev Schreiber is the perfect choice to receive this award as he is one of the most admired and respected actors working today. His incredible work in an impressive variety of films has entertained and inspired audiences worldwide," said Meir Fenigstein, IFF founder and exec director.
In 1982, Fenigstein had a dream of illustrating Israel’s social and cultural diversity to an American audience. Commencing in its nascent form with a mere six films, the festival has blossomed into the largest exhibition of Israeli films in the US.
“The mission of the Israel Film Festival is to enrich the American vision of Israeli life and culture, to spotlight Israel’s thriving film and television industry, and to promote cultural recognition of Israel through the powerful medium of film,” stated the IFF on their website.
Other honorees at this year’s festival include billionaire philanthropist Charles Bronfman, who will receive the Humanitarian Award, and producer Micha Shagrir, who will collect the Cinematic Achievement Award.
