Rachel, a Kibbutz Tzora member whose mother was part of the group, told Ynet that Gol and his wife, Tova, tripped while the group was walking on a narrow pathway near the edge of a cliff.
Tova Gol was able to grab onto a shrub and was rescued, but her husband was not as lucky. "He was trying to help her and apparently lost balance and fell hundreds of meters down. The group waited three hours for the rescue party," she said.
Other kibbutz members said that the community, which numbers 257 members, was grief-stricken.
