An Egyptian military source disclosed that a Sinai Jihadi group launched a rocket capable of reaching a 45 kilometer radius during a "training exercise" the Palestinian Maan news agency reported Sunday.
The Egyptian source added that the rocket was launched from a city in the center of the Sinai Peninsula and exploded in a desert are in the Suez region.

According to the report, following the explosion, Egyptian military forces arrived at the scene to examine the area. The Palestinian news agency claimed that the rocket was "Israeli made," and was looted in a previous conflict with Israel.
The report added that according to information obtained from Egyptian military intelligence, Jihadist groups in the Sinai Peninsula collect rockets and missiles left behind in previous conflicts and integrate them in their military arsenal.
Meanwhile, Mena, Egypt's official news agency reported that Egypt's interior ministry declared a state of emergency in Sinai over fears that Jihadist groups would try to attack police stations in Sinai.
