VIDEO – Jewish leaders in Warsaw are warning that Poland may run out of kosher meat within the next month after a law banning religious slaughter methods
came into effect earlier this year.

The country’s supreme court ruled last year that laws requiring animals to be stunned before they are killed, which goes against kosher practice, also apply to Muslim and Jewish methods of slaughter.
After supplies run out, Jewish butchers will have to begin importing kosher meats, with many eyeing Lithuania as the best source.
Lawmakers are considering passing legislation allowing exemptions, since religious groups have complained that the rule threatens their religious freedom, and the country has seen a drop in meat exports since the ban came into effect.
