Pet Shop Boys returning to Israel

The two band members, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, will arrive in the Holy Land as part of a world tour in honor of their new album, "Electric," which will be released in June.

This will be the legendary pop group's third visit to Israel. Their last performance was held about four years ago at Tel Aviv's Exhibition Grounds, and was praised by critics for the presentation of the songs and the video art displays seen on stage.

Ynet critic Amit Cotler wrote at the time, "British duo Tennant and Lowe, the former being in his mid 50s and the latter about to enter that decade, managed to amaze us with a magic wand even after 25 years in the profession.

"The duo, which insists on a dull British appearance, filled the stage with all colors of the rainbow in a true and accurate manner, proving that one can bring pop, dance and 20-year-old hits to the stage without a shred of embarrassment, with great respect to the 1980s, the same decade that built the Pet Shop Boys, and bring to Israel one of the best performances of the summer of 2009."

The Pet Shop Boys launched their career in the 1980s with hits such as "It's a Sin," "West End Girls," and their duet with Dusty Springfield, "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" Over the years, they released cover versions of Elvis Presley's "Always on My Mind," The Village People's "Go West" and David Bowie's "Hallo Spaceboy."

They also tried the field of dance music, with songs like "Domino Dancing" and "Left to My Own Devices," and slower beats as in "Being Boring."

The duo has been making less headlines in recent years, but it's new album is creating expectations for new hits and another electrifying concert tour.

Tickets for the Tel Aviv concert are being offered at a price range of NIS 249-599 (about $70-165), depending on the seat location.
