Syria rights group: Dozens killed, hundreds flee Banyas area
At least 62 bodies were found Saturday in a neighborhood of Banyas in western Syria, a day after forces of Bashar Assad had stormed the area, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Fourteen of those killed were reported to be children.
According to the report, the local population is predominantly Sunni. Earlier accounts stated that hundreds of families had fled the area, in fear of their lives. (AFP)
