The company has asked Civil Aviation Authority Director-General Giora Romm to inquire with Israel's defense officials what steps it must take in order to resume the flights.
El Al says there are many security-related restrictions preventing its activity in Turkey, and that these restrictions have yet to be discussed by the two countries.
Romm is slated to discuss the issue in meetings with Turkish representatives and Israeli defense officials in the coming days.
El Al cancelled its flights to Turkey in 2007 due to high costs and heavy security restrictions. Since then, the route has been controlled exclusively by Turkish Airlines, and has recently been joined by low-cost Turkish airline Pegasus.
