A 34-year-old caretaker from the Philippines
was arrested on suspicion of neglecting the 93-year-old Netanya woman under her care, as well as attacking her. During questioning, the caretaker said she wanted to "educate" the old woman, and denied ever attacking her.
The suspect had been caring for the elderly woman who was lucid but suffered from incontinence, for an extended period of time.

The elderly woman told her daughter, and later police investigators, that the nurse would regularly put her feces on her face, or push her hands into it. She also told them that the caretaker would beat her.
Following her mother’s complaints, the daughter filed a complaint with police in Netanya and an investigation was begun, during which the testimony was given by the elderly woman.
The caregiver was arrested and surprised police by admitting to the charges, saying that she wanted to educate the woman not to urinate on herself. The nurse added that she made the elderly woman smell the results of her incontinence, hoping that in this way, she would learn to hold it in. The suspect has denied attacking the elderly woman.
Police said they regard the allegations as very serious, and that it falls under the designation of elder abuse.
