The President's Residence issued a special greeting card to Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton for the birth of their first son, to which the president added a special gift for the newborn – an embroidered blue-and-white baby suit reading: "From Israel with love". The suit also includes a small tie and a hat for chilly days.

President Peres congratulated the royal family and the British people on behalf of the people of Israel, and wished health and joy for the newborn: "On behalf of the people of the State of Israel, I wish to express our tremendous joy at the birth of your child – a royal baby in the most democratic country on earth.

"From Jerusalem, we pray for his health, his future and his peace. May he live to a hundred and twenty years, and I know that the whole Jewish nation joins me in wishing the entire royal family a hearty Mazal Tov."
The royal gift is making its way to the United Kingdom, where the night-long celebrations of the heir's birth continue. The card and the gift will be given to Prince William and Kate by Britain's Ambassador to Israel Matthew Gould.
