An IDF Tamuz missile destroyed Wednesday afternoon a Syrian cannon which had fired two shells into Israeli territory earlier in the day and lightly injured two soldiers.
During the incident in the northern Golan Heights, one soldier sustained light wounds from shrapnel, while another suffered from severe shock.

The IDF said the mortars were stray fallout from Syrian infighting near the border between President Bashar Assad's forces and rebels trying to overthrow him.
The past year has seen a number of incidents in which errant shells and gunfire hit the Golan Heights. An increase in these incidents has been registered as the infighting intensified over the past few weeks. However, the IDF said that in some of the cases the fire was intentional.
Last week, for example, shots were fired at workers building the new security fence along the Israel-Syria border, near an IDF outpost. A week earlier shots were fired at an army patrol. No one was injured in either incident.
On Tuesday a group of 18 Syrians trying to escape the infighting crossed the border into Israel. They were returned to Syria unharmed a short while later.
