Netanyahu and Abbas shake hands for first time in five years

The Israeli PM and Palestinian President met face-to-face for the first time since 2010, at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is attending the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris, met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday, and the two leaders shook hands for the first time in five years. It was also the first time the two have met in person since September 2010.

In July, Netanyahu and Abbas spoke after a year in which they had no contact, and Netanyahu wished Abbas a happy Eid al-Fitr.
