First rains wash over Israel
With the first rains of the winter falling on Israel, a total of 19 millimeters of rainfall were recorded in the Golan Heights since the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, Tzfat got 10 millimeters. The Sharon Plains region received six millimeters, while the Gush Dan area received seven.
The central Shfela region of Israel only received on millimeter of rain however.
Rain began to fall on Jerusalem in the afternoon hours, causing stoplights to be knocked off line.
The rainfall managed to raise the Kinneret water level, reaching -213.71 meters below sea level. The water level needs to be almost five meters higher until it is considered full. After three winters of below average rainfall, the Kinneret’s water level is expected to drop again, and fast.
