PMO chief recorded telling JNF 'we need another NIS 4 billion for security'
PMO Chief Horowitz and Finance Min. Shai Babad spoke with JNF board a few weeks ago and asked for the money; 'The Iranian threat and the threat in the north necessitate this demand for the security forces. We're trying to see from where the money can be raised.'
The Prime Minister's Bureau Chief Yoav Horowitz approached the Jewish National Fund (JNF) together with Finance Minister Shai Babad several weeks ago, in an effort to secure large amounts of money that would go toward Israel's security. This following the demand made by Prime Mniister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, that the JNF, as well as other bodies, transfer NIS 4 billion to Israel's security apparatus in order to cope with the Iranian threat, as reported Wednesday by the Israel Public Broadcast Company (IPBC).
"The government of Israel, and especially the various security services, reached the conclusion that the State of Israel needs an additional NIS 4 billion," Horowitz was recorded as telling the JNF board of directors.
"I will only refer to the things we all know about, such as the Iranian threat and the threat in the North. These necessitates the security forces to a further demand of some NIS 4 billion. The prime minister, defense minister and security forces are facing this issue and trying to see from where the money can be raised."
So far, there has not been any reported progress regarding the demand that the JNF and others supply Israel's security forces with additional funding.
