Trump, Pence send Independence Day greetings to Israel
US President Trump says 'Looking forward to moving our Embassy to Jerusalem next month!' while VP Pence says 'miracle of Israel’s rebirth in her historic homeland is an inspiration to the world'; Rivlin, Netanyahu release English-language message for holiday.
US President Donald Trump and his Vice President Mike Pence sent greetings to Israel Wednesday evening on the occasion of its 70th Independence Day.
"Best wishes to Prime Minister Netanyahu and all of the people of Israel on the 70th Anniversary of your Great Independence. We have no better friends anywhere. Looking forward to moving our Embassy to Jerusalem next month!" Trump wrote on Twitter.
Pence added on his own Twitter account, "Today we join our great ally Israel as they celebrate their 70th Anniversary of Independence. The miracle of Israel’s rebirth in her historic homeland is an inspiration to the world and the American people are proud to stand with Israel on this historic day and every day."
In addition to their traditional Hebrew-language greetings, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin also released Independence Day messages in English.
"Israel's success didn't happen overnight," Netanyahu said in his own message. "Men and women from every walk of life – young and old, Jew, Christian, Muslim, religious and secular, men and women that have worked hard to build our nation."

"As I travel around the world meeting other leaders, I am struck by their appreciation and admiration for Israel. They seek Israel's technology. They seek Israel's ingenuity. They seek Israel's genius," he continued. "I am proud that Israel is helping people in Latin America, in Africa, in Asia and in many other places to live healthier and safer lives."
Rivlin, meanwhile, recorded a lengthy message to Jewish communities and Israel's supporters around the world.
