The President' Office announced on Wednesday that President Reuven Rivlin is to receive antibiotics in the next few weeks due to a mild flu he recently contracted. As a result, Rivlin canceled his appearance at several upcoming events.
"Under the guidance of his doctors, the president will receive a continuous intravenous antibiotic treatment. Consequently, the president will conduct a more controlled and spacious schedule," The President Office's statement read.
Rivlin canceled his appearance in several upcoming events, including a visit to the Bedouin patrol unit and the Gaza Strip border.
Rivlin, 78, contracted a mild flu last week. After bacterium was found in his medical test, his doctors decided to increase the antibiotic treatment he received, and put him on a continuous intravenous antibiotic treatment.
It should be noted that in January 2017 the president underwent a heart pacemaker transplant surgery and was hospitalized for 24 hours.
Rivlin is periodically examined by doctors and undergoes regular blood tests and cardiac and pulmonary function tests. After his previous rounds of examinations, he was told by doctors that his medical condition is excellent, he follows a healthy diet, and is fit.
