A cluster of balloons was found in Moshav Yafit in the Jordan Valley on Monday with what appears to be an incendiary or an explosive device attached to it.
The area was closed off and police sappers were called to the scene.
Israelis living near the Gaza border in the south have been suffering for over six months now from incendiary and explosive balloons and kites, which have been causing fires that consumed both woodland and farmland in the area.
In recent week, the threat has spread to the Shfela and central region. Last week, incendiary balloons were found in Rishon LeZion, Bat Yam, Givat Brener, Modiin, and even in the Jerusalem area.
In the Modiin area, several incendiary balloons were found stuck in trees, while in the city of Modiin itself a balloon was found on a road.
All of the balloons found outside the Gaza border area were in open areas, away from residential homes, and none of them has caused a fire.
