BDS groups call for boycott of Netta Barzilai's European tour
Boycott groups in Europe call to give 'Apartheid State ambassador' Netta Barzilai, the 2018 Eurovision winner, a 'warm BDS welcome' for her tour of Austria, France, Germany Switzerland and Britain.

Netta Barzilai, which begins on Monday.
Barzilai, whose song "Toy" won Israel the right to host next year's European singing competition, will be performing in Austria, France, Germany Switzerland and Britain.
Boycott groups in Europe dubbed Barzilai "the Apartheid State ambassador" and called to give her a "warm BDS welcome."

While the BDS groups normally only target Israeli state institutions, they explained that Barzilai takes part in Israeli PR efforts, which makes her a legitimate target for boycott.
"Cultural ambassadors are not common people, they are the official representatives of the occupation and the Apartheid regime," the boycott groups said.
Among the groups calling for Barzilai's boycott are BDS organizations in Switzerland, Germany and Britain.
Boycott efforts against Israel artists have increased in recent years, with performers such as Idan Raichel, Asaf Avidan and the Batsheva Dance Company encountering protests and demonstrations against their shows abroad—including in social media campaigns and in demonstrations on the night of the show.
