Vandals topple Holocaust monument made by Auschwitz survivor

Police launch an investigation into vandalized statue of a figure playing the flute, sculpted in honor of the six million Jews who perished at the hands of the Nazis.

A monument in Ramat Gan sculpted by an Auschwitz survivor to honor the victims of the Holocaust was vandalized over Tuesday. Police have opened an investigation into who toppled the sculpture of a flautist and smashed the six chimneys that represented the six million Jews who perished at the hands of the Nazis.

The statue—located in the city’s Har HaBanim garden atop of a hill overlooking the whole of the Dan region—had been built by a sculpture artist Ruth Schteiff Roger, a survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
