Despite the freezing temperatures in the mountainous regions of Israel’s north, the weather in the rest of the country has begun to return to seasonal averages and will see a significant temperature increase by the end of the week.
Sunday will see a mix of sun and clouds with a possibility of light intermittent rain throughout the day, according to the Meteo-Tech meteorological company.
In the meantime, the water level in the Sea of Galilee continues to rise. Over the past 48 hours the waterline in the freshwater lake has increased by 4.5 centimeters and currently stands at -213.77 below sea level, according to the Water Authority.
Since the kick-off of Israel’s rainy season, the Sea of Galilee has risen by 88 cm. However, the level is still some 77 cm below the lower red line, the point at which pumping water from the lake is prohibited. In order to reach full capacity, the lake needs an additional 4.98 cubic meters of water.
Throughout the rest of the week the weather is expected to be much warmer, with a possibility of a light drizzle in some parts of the country on Monday.
On Tuesday, the weather will be mostly sunny and the temperatures are expected to rise even further. On Wednesday, the weather will be bright and the temperatures will rise above the seasonal average.
