Trump congratulates Netanyahu on 70th birthday: 'You're great'

U.S. president praises PM in official letter, citing their strong fellowship and saying close ties between countries 'have never been more productive'

U.S. President Donald Trump congratulated Tuesday Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his 70th birthday in an official letter, calling the Israeli incumbent "one of his closest allies".

"There has never been a more productive time in Israeli-American partnership, and I know there are many more victories to come," Trump wrote in his letter.

"Thank you for your strong leadership and loyal friendship. You are one my closest allies, and I look forward to the continues success we will have working together".
"I send my very best wishes to you for your year ahead".
Trump then signed off the letter with the words "You're great!" written using a marker pen.

Netanyahu shared the letter on his Twitter account on Tuesday and thanked Trump for the gesture.
"Thank you to my friend President Trump for your warm words on my birthday. Our alliance and friendship have never been stronger,"
Netanyahu wrote.
The two leaders have had a close relationship since Trump took office in 2016, with Netanyahu highlighting his close relationship with Trump as part of his two recent election campaigns.
