The NCD said that ahead of April 14, which is Iran's Jerusalem Day, anti-Israel hackers are expected to intensify their efforts to carry out cyber attacks against targets in the country.
Every year in early April, hackers from different countries take part in a campaign dubbed #OPIsrael, intending to amplify anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian messages.
Over the past few years, the hackers have been unsuccessful in causing major harm, and their actions have led to website corruption and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.
Nonetheless, the National Cyber Directorate is urging organizations to get ready in advance and bolster their defenses against potential cyberattacks.
Check Point, an information security firm, has reported that over the past few days, hackers from Bangladesh and Sudan have launched numerous DDoS attacks against multiple sites in Israel.
These sites include the Weizmann Institute of Science, the Aqsa Martyrs' Center, Eilat and Haifa ports, hospitals, and others.
DDoS attacks involve the attackers inundating the server with commands, creating an excessive load that results in the site becoming unavailable or collapsing.
The NCD has released guidelines to organizations, with a specific emphasis on denial of service attacks for site owners. The guidelines also highlight the danger posed by hackers exploiting common vulnerabilities and recommend that organizations promptly install relevant security updates.
