Nvidia is expanding its operations in Israel and on Wednesday announced it is building a new research and development center in an investment of half a billion dollars. The center that will span some 10,000 sq. meters (107,000 sq. feet) will feature the largest data center of its kind in Israel.
Unlike existing server farms set up by tech companies in Israel and used by government and business entities, the Nvidia center that is to be constructed on the foothills of the Carmel mountains, near the company's local headquarters in Yorkne'am in northern Israel, will be used exclusively by the company for its needs.
Nvidia already uses a supercomputer built in Israel – Israel-1, that last year rose to the 34th place on the list of the 500 of the world's supercomputers. It is destined to later serve the local high-tech industry.
The new facility will run on up to 30 MW and include supercomputer systems for next generation AI and will require the most advanced cooling liquid systems. These are based on Grace Blackwell – the most updated and powerful Nvidia graphic superchip as well as Quantum and Spectrum communication platforms, developed in Israel.

Nvidia has a significant operation in Israel that was advanced with the purchase of Melanox in 2020. Hundreds of systems and labs in the new site would be used by dozens of engineering groups and new products to develop the company's new technologies for communication hardware and software, CPU and AI, to mention some.
Nvidia is one of Israel's largest private employers and its staff more than doubled in size since 2020 and continues to grow in its offices around the country.
