The Central Bureau of Statistics said on Monday that unemployment numbers dropped by 3.1% last month, continuing a consistent decline since the start of 2023.
It is important to note that these figures are adjusted to account for seasonal variations and external factors, and the adjusted unemployment rate settled at 3.6%. Overall, this signifies a relatively low rate both in Israel's historical context and when compared to global standards.
In addition to the favorable low unemployment numbers, there was a slight decrease in the employment rate during April, settling at 61.6% compared to the previous month's rate of 61.9%. This shift suggests that some Israelis considering the economic circumstances are now more open to accepting job opportunities they may have previously declined.
The number of people who have given up on finding work has also dropped by 4.1%. Those figures relate to jobseekers who were unable to find work in their professions, pay grade, vicinity, or in the scope of hours they desired. Some of those are due to a lack of experience or language barriers.
The total number of Israelis 15 or over who are eligible for employment, amounted to 7,014,700. Among them, 4,459,500 (both men and women) were actively participating in the labor force, representing a rate of 63.6%. Conversely, 2,555,200 individuals in this age group did not seek any employment.
