Elbit Systems has secured contracts worth approximately $335 million to supply defense systems to a European nation, the defense contractor announced on Monday.
The contracts include the delivery of PULS (Precise and Universal Launching Systems) rocket launchers, missiles, and Hermes 900 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with advanced payloads. The projects are expected to be completed over three and a half years.
The PULS launcher and Hermes 900 UAV are flagship products of Elbit Systems. The Hermes 900, also used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) alongside the Hermes 450 and Zik drones, has seen soaring global demand since the Russia-Ukraine war. The PULS system provides a versatile and cost-effective solution, capable of launching unguided rockets, precision-guided munitions, and missiles over various ranges. It is fully adaptable to existing platforms – wheeled or tracked – offering significant maintenance cost savings.
The multi-role Hermes 900 belongs to the Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) category and is designed for a wide range of missions, including regional control, intelligence gathering, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) in land and maritime environments. Since its first sale in 2011, it has been selected by over 20 clients worldwide.
“These contracts reflect the global trust in our innovative systems, such as the PULS and Hermes 900, which are designed to meet a broad range of mission requirements,” said Bezhalel Machlis, president and CEO of Elbit Systems. “Through our comprehensive portfolio, we remain committed to providing our customers with reliable, technologically advanced tools that address today’s complex defense challenges.”
Record order backlog
This order adds to Elbit’s record-high order backlog of $21 billion, reported in the second quarter of 2024. The company is set to release its third-quarter financial results on Tuesday, with expectations that the backlog will grow further.
Elbit recently announced a $500 million deal with Israel’s Ministry of Defense to supply laser systems for the Iron Beam, designed to neutralize aerial threats such as missiles and drones. This deal is part of a surge in contracts secured by the company in recent months.
