Israeli Kala Technologies, a defense-tech company established less than a year ago after the Oct. 7 massacre, was a well-kept secret despite rumors circulating about it. It is now stepping out of the shadows revealing its open platform that allows Western militaries to incorporate innovative commercial technologies into their systems.
Kela has raised $39 million since its establishment in July 2024 from VCs and private investors, and including the CIA's strategic investment wing Tel-Q-In. The funding will allow rapid development and implementation of the new platform in the IDF first, before other Western militaries.
Its founders, Hamutal Meridor, who serves as company president, Alon Dror, Jason Mani and Omer Bar-Ilan all have extensive experience in the IDF technological units and in the defense industries.
"We are in the midst of a technological revolution that will shape the future of security in the democratic world," Meridor said. "The early support of leading American funds, Sequoia and Lux, is not just a vote of confidence, it is a testament to the significance of the mission we aspire to lead.

Kela's platform enables the rapid integration of civilian technologies, such as advanced AI models, into existing military systems and provides an immediate response to challenges on the battlefield. It gathers information from a variety of sources, processes it in real time and presents it to a unified command interface, enabling full control of all systems and means connected to it. This would streamline decision-making processes and would allow a quick response to precise threats. Kela's platform is built on open and modular architecture, providing flexible and secure integration of new technologies.
