UN: U.S. announced Gaza aid fund is waste of time. We have a plan
UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher addressed the new Gaza aid fund announced by the U.S., calling it a 'waste of time.' In a press statement, Fletcher rejected proposals to establish an alternative aid delivery mechanism, stating: 'Let's not waste time. We already have an operational plan based on non-negotiable principles - humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence.' According to Fletcher, 'We've done this before. We can do it again. We know how to prevent famine. Let us work.' Fletcher added that 'The UN has the people, distribution networks, trust of communities on the ground, and the aid itself - 160,000 equipment pallets ready for shipment.'
