U.S. announces repatriation of two Guantanamo Bay detainees to Malaysia KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 (Reuters) - The U.S Department of Defense on Wednesday announced the repatriation of two Guantanamo Bay detainees to Malaysia, where the government said it was planning a reintegration programme for the two men. The Department of Defense said Mohammed Farik bin Amin and Mohammed Nazir bin Lep had each pled guilty to multiple offenses before a Military Commission. "On Nov. 14, 2024, Secretary of Defense (Lloyd) Austin notified Congress of his intent to repatriate bin Amin and bin Lep to Malaysia, and, in consultation with our partners in Malaysia, we completed the requirements for responsible transfer," the department said in a statement.
