Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu surprised Israelis on Thursday morning when he released a video of him performing a song with a young pop star for charity.
The track was recorded together with singer Eden Ben Zakena and is a rendition of the classic Arik Einstein ballad "Yesh Bi Ahava" (I Have Love Within Me), which was composed by singer-songwriter Arkadi Duchin.
Netanyahu and Ben Zaken recorded the tune as part of a charity campaign for the "Ken LaZaken" foundation, which assists the elderly population in need.
The 26-year-old winner of "X Factor Israel" sings most of the tune, with the premier joining in for a few verses, showcasing his deep baritone.
"I was happy to enlist [for the cause] with the amazing singer Eden Ben Zaken to perform the song for the 'Ken LaZaken' organization that cares about the well-being of the elderly," said Netanyahu in a statement.
"I am excited to see the younger generation showing up, in accordance with the health guidelines, to help their grandparents, the population facing loneliness and I call on everyone who can to join," he added.
"There are vaccines for coronavirus, but there is no vaccine for loneliness yet, it's in our hands."
