Make quick sufganiyot without yeast

Making a traditional Hanukkah treat will take less than 10 minutes with this recipe and allow you and your loved ones to indulge in the festivities

Ingredients (for about 20 doughnuts):

  • 1 small package of self-rising flour (370 g)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 yogurt packs
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam for the filling
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt.
2. Add the eggs and yogurt and mix well until a sticky batter forms.
3. Heat the oil in a small, deep pot. Using two spoons, shape the batter into round doughnuts. This may require some practice and your first attempts might be oddly shaped — don’t worry, they’ll still taste great!

4. Fry the doughnuts on medium heat for about 3–4 minutes, turning them to brown evenly on both sides. Ensure the oil is hot but not too hot; otherwise, the doughnuts will cook on the outside but remain raw inside.

5. Transfer the doughnuts to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
6. Fill a food syringe with the strawberry jam (if the jam is too thick, microwave it for a few seconds) and inject jam into each doughnut.
7. Generously sprinkle powdered sugar on top and serve.
