As they do every year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released their Christmas card, sparking another controversy among their fans. The couple shared a collection of photos from the past year, including one featuring their children, Archie and Lilibet — though their faces were obscured.
"What genius — to release a picture of the kids, but from the back," one follower tweeted. Another wrote, "Harry and Meghan are cynically using their Christmas card to promote their brand again." A frustrated commenter added, "Their words say they want to protect their children, but their actions say, 'Let's use them for attention.'" Another critic called it "a stupid card."
Some comments were also supportive of the couple's decision. "It's enough to know that the children are growing up happy and healthy. I'm glad they're protected. We don’t need to see their faces — I'm sure they're adorable," commented a follower named Sunny.
Another added, "Look at Harry — that's all he ever wanted. God bless and protect Harry, Meghan, their beautiful children and Grandma Doria."
The past year hasn’t been easy for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Rumors of marital issues have flooded gossip outlets worldwide, with their prolonged absence from public appearances together only fueling speculation.
Harry recently attended the New York Times DealBook Summit without Markle. Addressing the rumors, he said, " Apparently, we've bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We've apparently divorced maybe 10, or 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?"
“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls,” he added. “Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do,” he added.
Skepticism, however, persists Despite Harry's remarks. Royal expert Tina Brown revisited the early days of their relationship, proposing a new theory in her book “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor-the Truth and the Turmoil.” She claimed, "Prince Harry reportedly rushed to marry Meghan Markle because of concerns about her biological clock.”
